Gabrielle Pack, a senior at Peninsula High in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., took second in the women's elite section Saturday with a first-attempt clearance at 12-3.75 (3.75m) at the Vaulter Club Vaulter Magazine Big Red Barn Fall Fest meet in Sun City, Calif. Pack, representing North County Pole Vault, was competing for the first time in 14 weeks and lost in a jumpoff against Westlake High senior Paige Sommers after both vaulters missed four opportunities at 12-9.50 (3.90m). Sommers cleared 12-7.50 (3.85m) on her first try and Pack was unsuccessful on her only attempt.
